ENTRY

MUSHER
- There will be only one musher per team and the person starting shall drive the team throughout the race
- With the exception of the PeeWee Fun Run each race is a 2-day race. The winners will be determined by the lowest combined cumulative time for the 2 days. A musher must run both days to have a qualified finishing time.
- All mushers shall dress appropriately for the weather conditions.

DOGS
- All dogs must pass an on-site health inspection to be allowed to compete in the race.
- All dogs entered in the race must have a current parvo, rabies and distemper vaccinations. Each musher should have proof of such vaccinations at the musher's meeting (veterinarian, purchase receipt, personal records, etc.) NO RECORDS NO RACE!!
- No dogs may be added to a team after the start of the race.

DISEASE
- No dog equipment or clothing shall be brought from a kennel where rabies, distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, or other contagious diseases exist.
- If the race veterinarian diagnoses any dog present in the race area to have a contagious disease, that team shall be disqualified and shall immediately leave the race.

EQUIPMENT
- Harness and Lines
- All dogs shall be harnessed in single or double file.
- All harnesses shall be padded around the neck and chest.
- All dogs shall be fastened to the tug line by a neck line and a tail line with exception of the lead dog(s), who may run without a neck line.
- Sled
- Sled shall be equipped with an adequate brake, brushbow and snowhook and/or snubline.
(not applicable for skijoring)

RACING OFFICIALS
- The Race Marshal has final word over: all safety considerations for dogs and mushers; interpretation of rules at the musher's meeting; altering the time and location of the start, of the race route, of participants official running time; levying penalties; disqualifying dogs, teams and mushers; stopping the race; determining winners and subsequent placing.

CONDUCT AND DISQUALIFICATION
- Mushers shall be responsible for the conduct of their dogs and crew both in the race area and on the trail.
- Common sense and good sportsmanship shall prevail. If the Race Marshal determines that the musher's or crew's conduct is detrimental to the sport/race, that team may be disqualified.
- Willful failure to adhere to the published rules may result in disqualification. This will be the responsibility of the Race Marshal. A disqualified member will forfeit all placements, and prizes (both merchandise and money).
- The use of illegal drugs and/or substances as defined by state law or use of alcohol by mushers during the race is prohibited.
- No injectable substance of any kind, no oral or topical drugs that may suppress the signs of illness or injury, or that could enhance performance, may be used on/in a dog or be carried in a sled.

RACE START
- Common start/differential allotment: Teams will start at 2-minute intervals. Each musher's elapsed time will be calculated from the specified starting time. A team unable to leave at its specified time will depart after the last team leaves and will observe the specified interval between teams. Any musher who cannot leave the starting line within 10 minutes of the last team's departure will be disqualified unless extenuating circumstances prevail.

OUTSIDE ASSISTANCE
- Mushers may assist each other in appropriate ways in an emergency. Good sportsmanship is encouraged.

MANAGEMENT/HANDLING OF DOGS
- Cruel or inhumane treatment of dogs by any musher and/or his or her handlers is strictly prohibited.
- No whips will be allowed.
- All dogs will be in the team, on the sled, or appropriately restrained.
- In the event that a dog becomes loose from its team, the musher must recover the loose dog before completing that leg of the race.
- Good sportsmanship is encouraged between mushers in recovering a loose dog.

RUNNING THE COURSE
- The Dubois Sled Dog & Skijoring Race is a guest on lands of the U.S., Forest Service and the State of Wyoming. In light of this fact, mushers will conduct themselves in an appropriate manner and will at no time demand "rights" to the trail.
- Passing
- When overtaking another team, the musher shall call "trail" and the overtaken team must relinquish the trail.
- In the Junior Race, passing of another team should occur at the point of a trail judge so that the judge may safely assist the slower team in stopping if necessary. Trail judges will be instructed to assist the overtaken musher.
- If or when neither team is able to pull away from the other, the trail judge shall decide on the team to lead out.
- Lost Teams
- In the case of a lost team, the team will not be disqualified if the musher regains control of the team, provided the team and musher complete the race trail and comply with the rules. All teams must follow the trail as marked.
- Mushers may receive assistance in recovering their team.
- The musher may not check in with a dog missing and may not continue the race until the dog is found.
- Teams inadvertently leaving the trail must regain the course at the point at which they left it and then continue on.
- Safety
- Be cautious when overtaking, encountering or being overtaken by snowmobiles.

FINISH
- The nose of the lead dog crossing the finish line signals a team's official finish. In the event that the musher is not with the team when it finishes, the finish time will be officially recorded when the musher crosses the line after the team.
- There will be no calling of "trail" in the section called "no-mans land". This section of trail will be identified and announced at the musher's meeting.

CLAIMS
- Each musher is responsible for his/her own actions and the actions of his/her own dogs and crew. The musher also agrees to release the sponsors, We Do Events, Inc., and their agents from any claims or demands resulting from injury to the musher, his/her dogs, crew, property or the property of his/her crew.
- Each musher and his or her legal guardian shall sign any and all documents as may be requested by We Do Events, Inc. to evidence the foregoing. These documents will be executed prior to the musher's meeting. Any musher, who does not sign the documents requested, will not be allowed to participate in the race.
- Mushers agree that We Do Events, Inc. may use any photographs or collected information about the race and the participants for publicity purposes.

RACE CANCELATION
- We DoEvents, Inc. may at their own discretion cancel race/s at any time without notification due to unsafe track or weather conditions.
